James Junior "Tater Pie" Thompson, 81, of 2152 West Springs Hwy, Jonesville, SC passed June 11, 2018 at his residence. A native of Union County, SC, he was the widower of Dellar Harris Thompson and son of then late Austin Thompson and Essie Gregory Thompson. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended the public schools of Union County. He was a former employee of Robinson Logging Company. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo Thompson, Oscar Thompson, and Herbert Gregory and two sisters, Ossie Mae Goforth and Lizzie Cheeks. He is survived by two sons, Roosevelt (Brenda) Thompson of Jonesville, SC and Michael Thompson of Spartanburg; one daughter, Mary R. Thompson of the home; two step sons, Albert Thomas and Robert Thomas both of Spartanburg, SC; two grandsons, Travis A. Thompson of Jonesville, SC and Austin R. Thompson of Jonesville, SC; four step grandsons, Jaime Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Reggie Thomas and Ryan Thomas all of Spartanburg; one step granddaughter. Nakima T. Smith of Spartanburg, SC; A special niece reared in the home, Rebecca Brown of Spartanburg, SC; niece/caregiver, Shirley Harris of Woodford, VA; a nephew/caregiver, Russell Salter of Woodford, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
