Shirley Ruth (Thomas) Porter

Mrs. Shirley Ruth Thomas Porter, daughter of the late Mr. John Lee “Mike Suber” Thomas and the late Mrs. Lena Inez Cheek Thomas, was born March 28, 1947, in Union, South Carolina. She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Mrs. Porter grew up in the Santuc Community of Union and joined Bethesda Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in the public schools of Union County. She later became employed at Embassy Suites Hotel, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. James Earl Thomas and Mr. Ronald Dean Thomas, and two sisters, Mrs. Johnsie Lee Bailey and Ms. Hattie Bell Thomas Garner.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory three brothers, Mr. Jimmy Thomas of Union, South Carolina, and Mr. Christopher Thomas and Mr. Melvin Thomas, both of Atlanta, Georgia; along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
