William Browning, Jr., affectionately known as William Jermack, Buc Bae, and Uncle Buck, was born on November 2, 1955, in Union, South Carolina, to the late Essie Aiken Browning and William Browning, Sr. He peacefully passed away on February 2, 2026.
William was a consummate athlete and multi-sport competitor who especially loved and excelled in baseball. He graduated from Union High School in 1974 and was a member of the 1974 American Legion Post 22 and Union High School championship baseball teams. He later attended Morris College and Spartanburg Methodist College, where he continued to pursue his passion for baseball at the collegiate level. William went on to play minor league baseball and was inducted into the Union County Hall of Fame.
A dedicated and hardworking man, William built a career with several organizations, including Nestlé, Timken, the Town of Carlisle, Palmetto Health Richland, and the National Guard Armory.
William was known for his unmistakable style, loving spirit, and strong presence. He was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., a Prince Hall Freemason, and a deeply rooted man of faith. He faithfully served as a Trustee of Wyatt Chapel Baptist Church and was a devoted member of the church’s All-Male Choir.
Above all, William will be remembered for his love for family, his unwavering faith, his way of showing up for others, and the warmth he brought to every room. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
William was preceded in death by his siblings Gene Browning, Willie Harold Browning, Earnest Browning, Gloria Browning, McDouglas Browning, and Elnoria Browning.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Fadetra (Marcus, Sr) Foster and William Joseph Browning; and his grandchildren, Marcus Foster, Jr., Marjorie Jaleah Foster, and Jayla Cain; and great-granddaughter, Alyzah Cain; his siblings, Freddie (Michelle) Browning, Rosa Kershaw, Delgracier (James) Parham and Robert (Bundy) Browning; four sisters-in-law, Mary Browning, Andrea Smith, Deloris Browning and Winifred Browning; and a host of neices, nephews and family members.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, Inc., 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
