Born on January 13, 1963, to the late Willie Rice Sr. and Ernestine Coleman Rice, Willie D. Rice Jr. grew up in Union, SC, attending Union High School.
He was deeply influenced by cultural icons Michael Jackson and Bruce Lee. Willie was known for his talent at imitating Michael Jackson’s dance moves and was remembered for these performances.
Inspired by Bruce Lee, Willie pursued Taekwondo under Sensei Mr. Wade Hampton now Deacon Wade Hampton, earning a Black Belt.
Willie was a gifted artist excelling in drawing and painting. His artwork won several awards at the Union County Fair Events. He had a passion for music, both listening and creating. He even ventured out to establish his own “In House Studio” where he spent a lot of time producing his own beats. He enjoyed sports and traveling with his teammates during his youth. Willie was skilled at fixing things which led to his career as an assembler at Creform Corporation in Greer, SC.
Willie is fondly remembered by his children: Kenyatta Cureton, Nyatre Cureton (Shawn) Davis, Willie D. Rice III, Rashaun J. Rice, Kyllaila (Quinton) Evans and Carrie Pearson.
He is survived by his sister, Pernetta Rice, four grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and a special friend Joyce Huey.
Willie was preceded in death by one daughter, India Rice; six uncles and one aunt.
